At St Luke’s we aim to provide a high-quality art and design education that: · engages, inspires and challenges pupils · develops and improves their mastery of a range of art and design techniques and the use of a variety of materials to produce creative work, recording and sharing their ideas, experiences and imagination · uses sketch books to record their observations and to use them to review and revisit ideas · teaches about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work · develops an appreciation of art, across genres and medium and an ability to evaluate and form an opinion · enhances learning across the curriculum and wider learning · develops confidence and well being · encourages the enjoyment of art both as an observer and as a creator · provides opportunities to showcase and celebrate their skills and progress by displaying and sharing their artwork.
